PCAHA Scholarship Program - 2010 Award Recipients.

Please find attached the list of recipients of the 2009-2010 Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association Scholarship Awards and Special Bursary Awards.

2009-2010 marked the 33rd year of operation for the PCAHA Scholarship Program.  14 Scholarship Awards totalling $10,250 were awarded to PCAHA-registered Midget or Juvenile players who are in grade 11 or 12 or finished high school.  The recipients were selected by an independent Scholarship Adjudication Committee from among 99 eligible applications received, based on the criteria of academic achievement and community/school service.  These individuals were recognized at an awards reception held Monday, May 17, 2010, at G.M. Place, hosted by the Vancouver Canucks Centre for BC Hockey.

In addition, 13 Special Bursary Awards were presented in conjunction with the annual Midget and Juvenile Scholarship Tournaments to the players adjudged to have best exemplified excellence and sportsmanship during the course of their respective Tournament.  These recipients were recognized at the end of each of the four Scholarship Tournaments: the 4th Annual Joe Morellato Midget “C” Scholarship Tournament, the 33rd annual Midget Scholarship Tournament, the 28th annual Juvenile Scholarship Tournament, and the 11th annual Female Midget Scholarship Tournament.

Funds awarded must be applied by the recipients toward post-secondary study according to the Scholarship Program’s guidelines.  For further information on the PCAHA Scholarship Program, please refer to pages 31-34 of the 2009-2010 PCAHA Rulebook.

On behalf of the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association, I would like to congratulate the recipients and wish them all the best in the future.
